InstantRimshot.com is a questionable name

So after having a series of conversations with some coworkers I launched instantrimshot.com last week. The site provides easy access to a “rimshot’ sound effect for use in comedic situations. The only downside is that only a small percentage of people I talk to, even those who I consider to be pretty smart, know the term “rimshot.” Not necessarily a problem if they didn’t all associate the term with something slightly less work safe. 1. Wow! Great man :)

We are using it at work now, it’s perfect for our jargong.

I love the button! I use it all the time on IRC. :)

It’s true that many people don’t know what a rim shot is, but plenty do, so it still works! (or they find out when they press the button!)

Such a simple site… ads would be awesome on there ;)

    Cheers,

This is awesome. Seriously. I embedded it into my Active Desktop so I can use it at work when comedic moments arise.

I use InstantRimshot.com all the time. One suggestion: there should be a link (say, http://instantrimshot.com/play) that plays the sound as soon as the page loads. Such a link would be useful in chat or IM sessions.

My husband and I just found out about the site via Twitter (I’m twitter.com/siskita). We love it!!!! My hubby wants an iPhone-friendly version, but unfortunately your version is flash-based. :( Let me know if it branched out into other venues. I at least clicked on your google ads and re-twittered your link to my friends :) Cheers!

Arrrrgh! instantrimshot.com is not a rimshot, but the sound of hitting a cymbal.

  11. Scott says:

Joar, you’re right, the correct term is a “Sting.” I didn’t create the term “rimshot” obviously, but I’m fairly certain that “rimshot” is far more descriptive and widely used than “sting.” Doesn’t really matter what Wikipedia says when we’re talking about real life usage.
