“The Penny Jam” is a music video podcast that I created and lovingly produced from 2008 to 2010. It features Portland musicians performing in unusual places around the city. The series lives at thepennyjam.com, with all episodes hosted on Vimeo and YouTube as well as being offered in true “podcast” form through iTunes. The series began when my friend Sean Whiteman moved to Portland and we determined to start a new project together, teaming up with my collegehood friend James Jacobsen, a talented sound engineer. My illustrator-friend Max Brown created the bus image in the header if the website. During the series 2 year run, we filmed a total of 30 on-location episodes with 30 different bands – the series was enjoyed regional success and popular acclaim during it’s run. The series ended in 2010 as we rounded out Volume 3 and members moved on to other projects. I gained lots of experience, met lots of great folks and listened to a ton of great music…plus I shared all that musical glory with the world. Here is 1 of the 30 videos:
